AEROVAP HYGROMAX IS A MOISTURE-REGULATING WATERTIGHT MEMBRANE WHOSE PERMEABILITY TO WATER VAPOUR IS DETERMINED BY THE RELATIVE HUMIDITY. IN WINTER, when it is warmer inside than outside, water vapour can drain off from the inside to the outside. Relative humidity is typically fairly low in winter. The polyethylene copolymer film closes up, and then acts as a vapour barrier. This phenomenon ensures that virtually no water vapour penetrates into the structure of the insulation during the cold season, thus removing any risk of condensation. IN SUMMER, water vapour generally comes inside from the outside and the relative humidity of the air is high, both indoors and outdoors. The polyethylene copolymer film then opens and the water vapour can drain off from the outside to the inside, as the film become permeable to water vapour.
